GTA 6 PS5

Rockstar Games has made the decision to delay GTA 6 for a second time, pushing the PS5, Xbox Series X|S game back to 19th November 2026. This is a six-month delay, with the game originally slated for a May 2026 release.

In a social media statement, the studio said: "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

It continued: "We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City."

If the game does manage to make this new November 2026 release date, then it'll have been just shy of three years since the PS5 title's official reveal in December 2023. Of course, however, GTA 6 has been anticipated for so much longer.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick added: "Rockstar Games will now release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, and we remain both excited and confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience."

When asked if he's confident in the new launch date of November 2026, Zelnick said he's "highly confident" Rockstar will hit it. "At the same time, there have been limited circumstances where more time was required to polish a title and make sure that it was spectacular and that time has been well-spent, when our competitors go to market before something was ready, bad things happen. That said, I’m highly confident on the new date."
