GTA 6 Delayed Again, Pushed Back to November 2026

When they need this time to bring 60 fps on PS5, I‘m more than happy with this delay.

I’ve pretty much forgotten about it as I don’t worry too much about games unless they are out in a few months.

I called it last year. This will not release before 2027 so that they can release a special version for 2028 and the launch of ps6.
This will not release next year. I expect RDR 2 remaster next week announced for ps5 and switch 2

An optimisation for Xbox Series S could make it viable to bring it to Switch 2, a great opportunity for selling multiple copies per customer.

If it actually happens on that day it'll be exactly 6 years to the day after the launch of the PS5

As I said at the last delay, I’m fine with it as I already have far too many games to manage… and I’m a massive GTA fan!

Im not surprised, they should delay it until fall 2027 so it can have a simultaneous cross gen release between ps5 and ps6

I’m assuming the game will be released in 2027. My assumption would be late spring or early fall. I’m curious to see how the release schedule of AAA games shifts due to this announcement.

Thats the first delay. The realist in me says this AAAA behemoth will be delayed again to 2027.

I’m completely over this game. The last game released on a console 2 generations ago I bet this next one will be a PS6 title.
The dev cycle these days is *****, unsustainable and tiring for the devs and the customers. It’s just not worth the investment.

That puts it exactly on schedule with RDR2. Announced, delayed to following spring and then delayed again to make it a year after initial plan.
I'm not convinced like many that it will get delayed another whole year after that, but time will tell.

If insomniac weren't planning to have Wolverine done by October they are probably going to be pushing for that now.

Why do people get so worked up and overreact over a delay 😅, the game is still coming and you will still get to play it but you just have to behave like an adult and have some patience, maybe play the many other hundreds of games releasing next year whilst you wait.

I bet a knock-on effect of this will be that Marvel’s Wolverine gets pushed to 2027 as they won’t want to go head to head with GTA6.

@Cerny Just save it for next gen at this point so it runs at 4k60fps. Because I don't trust rockstar releasing it on ps5 and patching in 60fps on ps6. still waiting on RDR2 frame patch. and waiting, and waiting, and waiting

Am I the only one who's worried about Dan Houser leaving, he's a humble guy, but he definitely was the heart and soul. I feel this will be like a Tarantino movie without Tarantino writing and directing it.

@Actionhank89 Dan already left R* back in 2020. His last game with R* was RDR 2 which was a great game. Since then, R* didn't release any new game. I personally don't expect GTA 6 will be a good game when they can't even release one game in the last 7 year.

If it isn't, I definitely won't buy it.

If its not 60fps it will be (literally) unplayable to me, even poor adherence to 60fps is unplayable to me.
I couldn't care less how 'good' or 'generational' a game is otherwise, I would be completely unable to enjoy it - I would much rather buy a 6/10 game with perfect 60fps as I could get some enjoyment out of it.

If games like DW origins with that amount of characters on-screen can run at 70-100fps, and games like SM1, SMMM, SM2, R&C, GOWR, Hogwarts, Stellar Blade, RE Village, RE4 Remake etc etc can all run in excess of (and often well in excess of) 60fps then there is no excuse.

Edit: Therefore that is what I am hoping this delay is to ensure.

Fine by me.grand theft auto 6 is going to be a instant classic so a delay is fine.my backlogs of games is huge so I'm chilling with my backlogs of video games and new games to play before grand theft auto 6.word up son

I'm annoyed that other studios have to feel the need to tiptoe around the release of GTA. Is it going to be a good game, yes, I'm very confident on that. But does it reduce my interest in other titles, no!

Another reason why I don't think fear of other releases is warranted is that a majority of people buying GTA are people who don't try any other games besides gta, sports games and military shooters anyways. I don't see the consumer base split on it unless it's another mainstream sport or military game.

This hype dynamic the people online create (same goes for silk song, which has fizzled out quicker than coke on a sunny day) is just annoying and personally rather off putting.

I’m good with it. This is what we ask for all the time. Delay the games until they are READY to launch. Not cause a CEO wants his bonus and the game is still not fully baked. So stop whining. This is what we ask of devs.

Well, Rockstar failed. After twelve years in between GTA games, they had to delay this one and still couldn't get it out on time. So, I'll give Rockstar a six month ban on GTA 6 and will pick it up May 2027.

Like I said before, I'll just wait for GTA6 on the PS6. 😂

If Star Citizen releases before GTA6, it would be so embarrassing…
I am honestly starting to lose interest in the new game after such a long wait. Unless it’s actually the Second Coming of Jesus, I am not excited anymore.
I also hate that it’s gonna come close to next-gen as I feel I got burned badly by the entire PS5 generation. I would probably just buy 6 on PS5 and be done with Sony after that…

Yes: remasters, remakes and Soulslikes (which I couldn’t really get into). These made the most of the generation so far, except a few gems like Astro Bot, Ratchet&Clank, Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei and both Death Strandings. I originally wanted to get on the PS5 bandwagon mainly for the possibility of GTA6 finally coming out, but after 4 years I found myself still playing the Switch (and now Switch 2) more.
Even Cyberpunk, which I originally intended to get on PS5 but couldn’t decide when to spend the money on it, became a Switch 2 launch wonder to me. Sure, it’s not the greatest in terms of graphics, but it’s amazing it runs well as it is (except Dogtown, that’s a pain on everything). And before you say anything about indies, I mainly play those on Nintendo.

All in all, the entire PS5 gen was lackluster compared to previous gens and I don’t like the current trends in gaming! I was hoping for Rockstar to bring some magic back in the meantime, but I think that may not be possible anymore.

Long wait but understandable. Had to watch the trailer again. As a Miami native, even though this is a fictional version of it it is literally amazing how they so nailed the city in this. This is so realistic I could have sworn I saw friends of mine in the trailer. Can't wait.

@SrpskaArtilerija The top 5 games of this year are neither soulslike, remasters or remakes. The best game of the entire generation is neither them as well. As i said i suggest you play more and broaden your horizons. This gen while flawed is easily more diverse in what it offers then last gen.

I knew this game was not coming out in May 2026! It made no sense, something as big as GTA 6 comes out in the fall right before Christmas!

I fell out of love with the GTA series after 5 (whose campaign disappointed me and whose multiplayer never interested me) but I can’t imagine this delay means anything more than ‘Rockstar is taking its sweet time’.

GTA5 despite my indifference is a mainstay on sales charts and I’m sure a lot of shark bucks are continually being bought.

Whether or not GTA6 has the insanely long tail of 5 is up in the air but a ginormous launch whenever it hits is a certainty.

This is why people should focus on what exists on the shelves now, or is set for release within a few weeks.

Not get obsessed with vapourware.

Have to blame developers, publishers and the media too. Why are we so often seeing trailers, ads or even preorders for stuff that is six months to three years away.

@andrewsqual it’s as simple as reducing the graphics on the series s. The series s has a stronger CPU than the PS5. Remember it’s the PS4 and Xbox one that held back this generation.

Gutted, but glad to wait. I'd rather the game meet the immensely high expectations it has, and if it does, great for us.

I'm not fussed if it's delayed, will.be ready when it's ready, plenty great games to play in the meantime. What I do not get though is why pretty much all major releases always have delays. Why do the production comapnies/developers routinely get it wrong?

And now queue in the launch dates reshuffling for the other 2026 titles...

Unfortunately this is becoming the norm, the constant demand for more from consumers is a joke. So yes its going too take years to develop these ***** games. Most are obsessed with openworld, 60fps, no wonder devs are Constantly under pressure. I can practically guarantee when this game does release it will still be bug ridden.

We all knew they wanted the BIG UPDATE for PSSR to drop first so they could implement it before release.

Firing people. Series S optimization. And probably fps issues everywhere. Not to mention Pro with its PSSR that almost no developer except Sony can use properly.

At this point with the delays, i believe, not 100%, that this game will be on last gen consoles.

Anyone who followed the RDR2 delays knows this is exactly how R* works.

They tell shareholders to set dates until they finally get one right. Typically, it's the third delay, as seen with RDR 2, so I feel like this peak season launch date is the one they were really aiming for, but didn't want to upset shareholders at the time and mess up the stock price.

And no, they didn't delay this because they fired 40 out of the 6,000 staff they have; they announced it at the shareholder call and made it public at the same time. It would be pretty naive to think that such a small number of staff would have any real impact on the global development teams.

@Gunga They would have planned the delay before that happened and had to tell shareholders about the delay at yesterday's T2 shareholder meeting (which they then had to make public). A delay would actually just draw more attention to them, so that's not optimal either.
